By now, you’ve probably heard someone say, “why plan for birth when it never goes to plan?” Let me tell you why this is never a sensible idea…
Yes, birth rarely goes “to plan”. You may have never been in this situation before, and baby certainly hasn’t!
I know that it’s the births where things go “off-plan” that you need to know your options more than ever!
I know this because I’ve been there. And let me tell you, having a plan in place, even if it does go “off-plan”, was the single biggest factor in having a positive experience.
Nobody can predict what will happen when you are in labour – don’t let anyone tell you otherwise!
But, you CAN face baby’s birth day with knowledge, feeling in control and with several pain-busting strategies under your belt. So you can rock your birth, even if the going gets tough.
We had a successful home birth on Sunday (born on baby’s due date!), which was a good thing as it was only 1.5hrs of established labour!
This labour was SO much better than the first. Your refresher antenatal classes helped so much for the labour, it was much calmer than the first and much more controlled. The breathing techniques were so helpful – I breathed her out!
Big brother can say her name, and sometimes is quite affectionate toward her, but other times says “no baby” and tries to push her away – it’s early days!
Our little lady arrived on Sunday evening and we couldn’t be happier! I stayed home until the contractions were intense and close together, my waters broke in the car. I felt the urge to push in the car park and 45 min later she was in my arms!! The breathing techniques were amazing and all I needed. Thank you Jilly for giving me the confidence to have the best birthing experience possible.
Do you want a different birth experience this time? To have fantastic understanding of your body and the way birth works?
Do you want to be fully prepared for every eventuality, including birth, your recovery, baby’s early days and getting used to your new family unit?
Do you want to enjoy some time out to concentrate on this pregnancy and learning how to start that parenting juggle?
Why Choose CubCare?
I’m Jilly, founder of CubCare. I know the power of good antenatal education, and I have created this course to incorporate the best there is to offer.
There is so little local support and education avaliable for those who have given birth before, but you need just as much support and empowerment as first time parents to be!
I came into this business after a difficult birth experience with my first, and wanted to find a different way for any future babies I had.
I discovered how amazing it is to combine hypnobirthing and body mechanics science. Safe to say, my second birth experience was a world away from my first – and one I still smile about now, 7 years on!
What I learned is that when you do proper research ahead of time and put together a properly informed birth plan, when you understand the birth process and how to work with your body, when you have a whole bunch of tricks up your sleeve for coping with labour sensations…you can turn any birth journey into a positive one.
FAQs about our CubCare Antenatal Course – with Hypnobirthing and Active Birth
Do you need antenatal classes for second baby?
It depends how well prepared last time, and how your birth went. But generally, the answer is, yes, it certainly can’t hurt.
Our CubCare Refresher Antenatal classes will give you a bunch of tools and techniques that maybe you didn’t know last time. Or refresh your memory (parenting takes a lot of brain power, it is so normal for the skills and knowledge you learnt at your previoud antenatal classes to be forgotten).
Classes are a wonderful opportunity to meet others who are also pregnant and start your journey with a support network already in place. To have a group who are going through the same time, with other children at home too, is invaluable.
What week should I start antenatal classes?
Traditionally, antenatal classes would ideally start from 30-32 weeks pregnant. However we work differently in that we believe it is never to early to get educated and learn how to navigate the antenatal system, as well as dealing with the birth. Hypnobirthing class Welwyn, Hypnobirthing class Welwyn
We welcome everyone to our Antenatal Classes from around 25 weeks (you are welcome earlier!) to allow you plenty of time to learn everything there is to know, to put the techniques into practice. To support your confident birth.
But it is never too late either, so join us whenever you are ready. Hypnobirthing class Welwyn

I am planning another caesarean birth is this class still worth it?
Yes absolutely! There are so many reasons why our refresher anteantal course is so important if you are planning another c-section.
The movement and relaxation can help you during pregnancy to ease discomfort and help prepare your mindset for birth. Our movements can help with baby’s positioning, which can help with the c-section operation and aid recovery too. The breathing and relaxation techniques will be very useful in the build up to the operation, to ease anxiety and nerves, to help with any pain afterwards and whilst recovering.
The course will give you tips on managing recovery whilst juggling other children, and will provide hints and tips for making life easier after a c-section.
Depending on the reason why a caesarean might be the best option for you, there may be a chance that your baby has other ideas before the date. So, having prepared for all eventualities you will be calmer and feeling more in control of the situation. Hypnobirthing class Welwyn

Is this course good for making local "mummy" friends?
By nature, a group course for a set due date range will allow you to meet other expectant parents who are due around a similar time to you.
The course is a very laid back and friendly place to be, with plenty of time for discussions, getting to know others and forming connections. But this is not the main aim of the course. It is a beautiful by-product, but the main aim is to learn about birth, caring for baby and early parenting.
Connecting others is a large part of the course and each group will have a Whatsapp group set up, there will be a lunch organised after the second weekend session, and an organised postnatal reunion after all the babies have been born.
You will also get an exclusive booking opportunity to book into our postnatal courses and baby classes to extend your social group even further.
Can I bring my partner?
Partners/birth partners are more than welcome to attend the 3-hour weekend session. We have designed the course to hopefully allow for childcare issues and really hope that childcare can be arranged so that partners can join for the weekend session.
There are 4 Tuesday evening sessions designed for mum-to-be/pregnant person only, which form a large part of the course.
These ones are just for the pregnant person which makes them a very special place. It means you can ask all your questions, share anything you want and know you are in a safe space.
Plus you can fully relax into the class, as you don’t need to worry about anyone else’s partner seeing you with your bottom in the air doing your pelvic floor exercises! Hypnobirthing class Welwyn, Hypnobirthing class Welwyn
Are these classes similar to NCT or Bump and Baby Club?
Our Antenatal Refresher Course is unique. Bump and Baby Club does not offer a refresher course option, and the NCT isn’t offering one locally to Welwyn Hatfield.
Our CubCare Refresher Antenatal classes have been developed from 10 years experience in the field. I am experienced in antenatal education, movement education, postnatal education and babywearing education.
I draw upon my experience and strengths to provide clients with tools and techniques they will be able to use pre labour, during labour and after birth.
We cover, in real depth, hypnobirthing, active birth, and more medical aspects of birth too. Nothing is an afterthought or an add on. A CubCare Refresher Antenatal Course will make sure you know everything there is to know.
Our course hours are actual taught hours. And I believe that your time is valuable and your money should be spent on education and empowerment. Although I can promise good snacks and time to form bonds and friendships!
There is ongoing support from Jilly (not a faceless person from the customer service department). And I have full, local NHS service knowledge. I work closely with local midwives and the NHS Maternity service at both Lister and Barnet hospitals.
What is Hypnobirthing?
Hypnobirthing uses science of hormones, the brain and how your body responds to danger, to create a set of tools and techniques to help make things easier.
Hypnobirthing can be used alongside all the drugs, like gas and air and epidural, to help create a more positive birth experience.
Hypnobirthing birthing compasses antenatal education, self-hypnosis, relaxation, massage and breathing techniques to help release any fear or tension you may have around birthing your baby.
Hypnobirthing can also be used alongside any birth to keep you as calm and relaxed as possible. For births such as:
C-sections (elective or emergency)
Twin / multiple births
VBAC births (Vaginal Birth After Caesarean)
What is Active Birth?
Active Birth is a series of instinctive behaviours that a birthing person, and the baby will go through to make space, to change position and to be born.
While it is instinct, the need to move and change position during birth; our social conditioning and lack of seeing this happen means that there is often distrust in our bodies. Or a disbelief that it is possible to have a positive birth experience.
Our Antenatal Classes will give you all the body mechanics and anatomy knowledge you need to undertand why certain movements and positions are so good before and during birth. But with our weekly classes, you’ll also be able to put them to regular practice.
What is Active Hypnobirthing?
Active Hypnobirthing puts Active Birth and Hypnobirthing together. Allowing you to prepare your body for birth during pregnancy, and during labour; whilst using hypnobirthing techniques.
Many hypnobirthing courses, books or downloads will teach techniques such as breathing and relaxation, but if baby is in a tricky position, or if there is tightness in your body making contractions more difficult then everything can go out the window.
Active Hypnobirthing works to help you get to know and understand your body, how it works for birth, how your baby works for birth and how you can put everything together.
Active Hypnobirthing techniques really can also be used alongside any birth to keep you as calm and relaxed as possible. It might surprise you but active hypnobirthing is helpful even for births such as:
C-sections (elective or emergency)
Twin / multiple births
VBAC births (Vaginal Birth After Caesarean)
Do I really need antenatal classes?
